Oh those First Steps

This post will come a little out of order as I am desperately still trying to catch up, however, this is too monumental to postpone.
YOU ARE WALKING! Last week at Eddy's house you walked from the ottoman to Mama (about 3 steps).  Aunt Kacie and I tried hard to make it happen again so we could get it on camera, no luck.  All week we have encouraged, without pushing too hard, but you only want to walk with the walker or holding someone's finger (only one).  So we walk everywhere with you holding one finger.  And it's great (hard on the back) but so cute to watch you wobble around.  You don't really like to crawl anymore.  So we hunch over and hold your hand with one finger.  And then today Dada was playing with you while I cleaned the house and you started walking into your room, where I was, holding Dada's one finger.  But then you let go, and Dada kept both hands in front of you and you walked, as if you were trying to catch his fingers, and you walked, about 10 steps, YOU WALKED!  We tried really hard to be silent; we didn't want to startle you.  And YOU WALKED!  Then we went to Sabine's house for Sunday Supper and were telling everyone how excited we were.  Later you turned to Lainey and you took a few more steps. I can't believe you will be a toddler in the next few days.  What an amazing accomplishment.  We are so proud of you!  You are so brave and strong.  Take your time my love.  Walk when you are ready.  But thank you for those steps - they sure made us happy.

Te quiero tanto, tanto, mas que nunca!

Month 12 - YOU ARE 1 YEAR OLD!

It is a bit unreal that an entire year has gone by since the day you were born.  Although a lot has happened and you definitely are growing enough to be a 1 year old, it seems like yesterday that you were in my belly and then coming into the world at our home.  It has been an amazing year.  One your Dada and I would not trade for anything.  You are one awesome kiddo.  We are so grateful you came into our lives and are amazed by you every day. We still cannot believe that we made a human as kind, smart, hilarious, strong willed, independent, and beautiful as you.

You weigh 21lbs 13oz and are 28 inches long.  (75% in weight and 25% in height:)
You eat everything!  Stuffing is your new favorite this month.  You had it at Christmas and New Years.  You still love your Leche.
You are learning to clap (with the palms of your hands), say "Hi", put words together "Hi Dada" and "Ball Dada", parrot our words, put your hands by your shoulders when you don't know something, say "oooooo" for Juli, climb up the playscape and slide down, say "Staci", put your train together, say "Moooo", use your walker, say "banana", say "ventana", say "Clara", say "oooo" when you see the letter O, say "Uh, Oh", climb in your car seat all by yourself, and pull up on everything and try to stand on your own - this has led to some  bruises as you tend to fall and hit your cheek and forehead on coffee table corners and the front of your stroller.
You LOVE your friends, the park, to eat, to be outside, shakers, BALLS, TJ, to Nod Yes, hugs and open mouth kisses, Baby Eddy, Music class, Staci, your cousin LoLo.
You don't like to change your diaper or your car seat.
You sign milk, eat, more, sleep, all done, airplane, #1.
You say: Mama, Dada, Oo Oo (LoLo), Oooo (Juli), Tata (Tinka), mmba (Simba), ball, Hi, agua, uh oh, mas, TJ, TT, Baby, Staci, Clara
Cool things that happened this month:
*Music Class started - you love Ms. Natalie and really enjoy when we get to play instruments.  You LOVE your turn at the guitar and to look at everyone in the Yoga Mirror.
*Your Birthday!  It was a perfect day.  Mama and Dada and you hung out that morning and played.  We made pancakes.  Then we met family at Central Market and had lunch.  Then you came home and took a stellar nap while we got ready for the party.  It was a beautiful day in Austin, Texas so we had a Blanket party out in our backyard at 3:19 (the exact time you were born).  Your Aunt Steph and Uncle Jamie and Lolo came.  Your great Aunt Ruth came.  Your Abuelo came.  Your great Bobee and Grand Pumba came.  Of course Tinka and Titi Mo were here.  All of your friends came, even Eddy, who was only 3 weeks old, and it was so much fun.  We made maracas, drew pictures, and most importantly played Ball.  That is what you gave all of your friends to take home.  We were having so much fun that Mama forgot to cut the cake but Great Bobee helped us remember.  We sang the Venezuelan birthday song and then you ate 2 huge pieces of carrot cake and loved every crumb.  We are so thankful you were born and love you so much.
Te quiero tanto, tanto, mas que nunca.

Month 11

We aren't sure how tall you are or how much you weigh because we haven't been to the doctor in a couple of months and that is a great thing!
You eat spaghetti (your new favorite), turkey, yogurt bites, cereal, all veggies and fruit, mum-mums, puffs, cheese, cottage cheese, bread...you LOVE to eat!
You are learning to stand on your own, talk - your babbles sound like conversation, trying to put the rings on the stacker, use your signs for EAT and ALL DONE, dance, point at airplanes, make animal and car noises, clap (you clap top hand on the top of your bottom hand:) fake sleep when I ask if you are tired (you lay your head on the floor and go 'ahhhhh'), say "TJ" (you whisper it), waving at everyone, you say "Ball", sit in the bath by yourself without a seat, say "mas" and "agua", Nod your head for Yes, say "TT".
You LOVE outside, trees, lights, food, your family, Tinka, kids, your friends, crawling fast, throwing things on the floor, Gravity, your play group, MUSIC, shakers, BELLY BUTTONS!
You don't like to change your diaper, to do the same thing for very long, to stay up late, to come inside.
WORDS YOU HAVE:
mas, agua, Mama, Dada, Ball, Baba (Simba), TJ, TT, yes (head nod), sign Leche, all done, eat, baby.
You understand so much in English and Spanish and are really good at getting your needs met by pointing to what you need.
Cool things we did this month:
We went to the lot to get your first Christmas Tree and...
BABY EDDY WAS BORN!  It was an amazing day...Aunt Kacie text at 5:14 and told me we might be having a baby that day.  I was so excited!  I saw you for a few minutes that morning and then I left.  You had a Dada day.  I had a fantastic day watching an amazing woman give birth.  It was seriously life changing for me.  And now we have this new little human to love and bring so much joy into our lives.

Month 10

You are 27 inches and 19 lbs.
You love eating broccoli, pasta, swiss chard, sweet potatoes, pears, apples, cereal, puffs, mum-mums, cottage cheese, yogurt, turkey, cod, squash, zucchini- all in pieces (no more purees) and all with your fingers.  You still drink Mama's Leche.
You are learning to walk using furniture as support, make people laugh, imitate animals, point, kiss, your first sign "Leche", dance, sing "Eat", bottoms up with your Tommy Tipee Cup, turn the light off in the bathroom, use your hand to go 'bah, bah, bah' on  your mouth, point at airplanes, make a chicken sound, blow kisses, stand alone, chew when Mama says 'mastica', make a dog and car sound 'Oooo', say "oh, oh" for cousin Lolo.
You love to eat, make people laugh, be silly, your friends, trees (to touch them and say hello), to be outside, playgroup, picnics, rattles and maracas.
You don't like when Dada or Tinka leave, to stay in one place for too long, to change your diaper, sleep through the night, to be inside for too long.
A few good stories this month:
*We were out eating at Polvos when Tia Juli and Abuelo were in town and they were playing great Latin music.  You were sitting in the high chair and all of the sudden you just started bopping.  It was awesome.  We all started laughing so hard.  Even the host and waiter were so excited.
*One night after nursing I had just told you good night and you were already half way in your crib when you turned back around gave me a hug and kiss and then turned back around and went to sleep.  You melted my heart!!!
*Dad was working from home  (which he does twice a week and we love) and you were playing with Mama in the living room.  You just stood up and stayed up for about 10 seconds.  I tried to get Dada's attention but you sat down before he could see.
*We went to El Paso to visit our family for your first Thanksgiving.  We stayed at Aunt Steph and Uncle Dave's.  You played with Lolo a ton and loved it.  You also spent a lot of really good time with Great Grandpa - he even got on the floor and crawled with you.  Dada and I were worried he would not be able to get back up.  We also spent a lot of great time with your Grandpa, Uncle Jamie, and Aunt Nicole.  It was very nice.

Month 9

You are 27 inches long and 18lbs 13 oz.  (50% for both)
You eat apples, peas, carrots, green beans, pears, oatmeal, rice cereal, mum-mums, blueberries, peaches, sweet potatoes, cottage cheese, Broccoli, Cod, yogurt, pasta,  and Leche
You are learning to walk using your crib for support, pull up on all tables and shelves and chairs, you have started putting your knees up when you crawl (only sometimes), you talk a lot and your favorite thing to say is "Na, Na, Na" and we don't know what that means yet.  You are pointing at everything and the pediatrician was very impressed when we went in for your check up - she said that was very advanced for this age.  You are also kissing all of the characters in your books - our friend Teresa who works with Early Childhood Development said this is very advanced as well:)  You have started imitating duck sounds.
You still love Sophie the giraffe, Simba, Dada (in pictures and real life), Tinka, and to be outside.  You love the bath and you love your bath towels -we put the hoods on and scream and growl and you think it's hilarious.
You don't like to be by yourself or put yourself back to sleep.
Your eyes continue to be blue and amazing (the doctor says that you will probably be a blue eyed girl).
You have an amazing personality- you love to  make people laugh, you laugh a ton, and you are so kind.
You amaze us everyday because you are so smart.
You say "Dada" in the sweetest voice - it melts everyone's heart.
This month you sat out in the play pen while Mama and Dada cleaned the yard.
We thought about sleep training because we were all so tired and tried cry it out - it was terrible and didn't work because we couldn't stand to hear you cry.
We went to Portland so that Mama, Tia Juli, and Uncle Chu could run a Marathon.  It was so fun.  We stayed in a big house and you did such a good job of cheering us on.
You love to give open mouth kisses and think it's really funny.
We went to visit our Midwives, and even though you are a little shy right now around people you don't know you loved Genevieve and Michele right when we walked in - must be some amazing connection we all share.
We celebrated a lot of birthdays - Miles, Sabine, and Zarrin!  So much fun to go to parties.
We went to San Antonio to celebrate Luis and Stephanie - it was your first wedding and you looked so pretty.  We took funny pictures in the Photo Booth, you stayed up late, and slept in the big hotel bed with Mama.
We celebrated our first Halloween as a Unit outside of the Womb.  We were the Incredibles and it was a hit.  We looked awesome so we turned the picture into our first Christmas Card.
Te quiero tanto, tanto, mas que nunca.

We used the Nativity that Tinka made for Mama when she was a baby to tell you the story of Jesus' Birth

We sang songs and Buelo read us the story.  This is why we celebrate Christmas.

Simba must have been a good boy too; he got a lot of new balls, treats, and the promise of a new bed

Maybe this walker will help you take your first steps

That's a good way to open a present
